A Dream Like Yours

When we expand our minds and expand the range of our thoughts, impossibilities are threatened.
Challenge the range of your thoughts, consider how far you’re willing to go before an idea becomes impossible to you. Try going a little farther, if even a step.
This life is a gift, a legacy, an inheritance to everyone we see now and even those who will come after us. Our dreams are the building blocks of the future so we must live boldly, with purpose, leaving our indentation on the world. Others will need it to build on.

Paying It Forward

Our forerunners have paid a price for us so that dreams, ideas, wisdom, knowledge, freedom, experiences, success, love and other great treasures would not end with them but be inherited by the generations that would follow.

The legacy of Jesus Christ, Plato, Suzan B. Anthony and so many more has been preserved in books, articles, video clips, the laws of nations, civil rights. All these things serve to keep our inheritance fresh and present, lest we forget our growth of us as a people. All these great leaders have dreamt us here today and we are standing on their shoulders and their prayers. So, when confronted with the same issues others faced before, know that they stand with you now. They fight with you and if you should stand rooted in the legacy they left, you may stumble, but not fall. By standing and pursuing your dream, building up something that you know is necessary, you would have in turn paid the cost for someone after you as these leaders had done for you.

Acquire Knowledge

It is imperative that we understand the history of our inheritance if we aspire to go forward. As Maya Angelou puts it, “If we don’t learn our history, then we run the risk of repeating it. Or even denying the very inheritance we possess and in an endless cycle, fight the same battle over and over again; never moving forward.”
Hosea 4:6 begins, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”

A look at reality – Case Study Pharrell Williams

"Hidden Figures" Screening at NMAAHC

Consider the mastery of a craft, like music production with Pharrell Williams. He recognized what he was most connected to and literally became a part of it… or it becomes a part of him, and he recognized it as it injected itself into everything he did. Pharrell walked in his own understanding and expressions of music and shared it with the world. He attributes most of his success to all the people who helped to build him up, while he was younger. How would they build him up you may ask? By believing in him, encouraging him and teaching him. He learned about the greats and learned from the greats, became a part of their legacy and created his own.

It’s YOUR turn!

Launch from the expertise of those before you and set even greater heights for the people coming after you. You will become a part of the legacy that they study as they seek to become their best selves.
A story is still being written here and we are all a part of it. We have inherited our lives from those before us. What life will we give?
My dream is that that life will be intentional, a reflection of us truly “living our best life”.

GOD. LOVE. MUSIC.

Solid thoughts. We are the result of countless sacrifices made by those who went before us, and we are even now being called upon to make similar sacrifices for the sake of the generations to come, beginning with our own children but ultimately stretching into the far future. We leave a legacy behind whether we wish it or not. The only choice we have in the matter is what kind of legacy it will be. Wise words. #TheLifeYouGive

Aldane you are so right! Whether we like it or not, we leave a legacy. But the thing to consider is are we actively constructing that legacy, or will we die without intentionally creating a bridge to the future we hope and pray for.

I like that: will we simply be swept along by the current and leave this world without making a deliberate, conscious effort to leave something worthwhile for our children and theirs after them to inherit when we are gone. Personal responsibility keeps cropping up all over. Lol, thanks for backing me into a corner! Now I can’t blame anybody else. 😝

Nor does that legacy need to be massive like some of those heavy hitters from the history books. It’s simply amazing how small decisions that never get noticed or applauded by the masses can impact an entire culture or epoch. I think that’s what it’s about. Integrity. Character. Consistency. Purity of heart and mind. Truth. Godliness. Love. If we could pass just these on, we would have done more good than if we had died as billionaires and left it all to charity in the will.
